Does Three Months of English Instruction Make a Difference?

抄録・概要
This paper examines the effect of three months of language activities in an English class. Twenty five literature faculty students took the A.C.E (Assessment of Communicative English) Placement Test in April and July. The students had to do the following activities every week. 1. Write a weekly diary 2. Read a weekly newspaper and prepare for a vocabulary test 3. Listen to a story and write the summary, 4. Listen to a tape and do "Shadowing" They also had to deliver a speech about a given topic once or twice a semester. The result showed that the overall average score of the students did not change significantly, but those of the least proficient group showed a considerable gain.
