中国における水系流域の汚染問題

The river environment in China is faced with three important and grave problems ; the water pollution, the water scarcity, and water disasters by flood. Since 1979, China has pursued a policy of economic reform and opened to the outside world, and the securing of steady energy and water resources has been one of the biggest subjects for the high economic growth rate. As a result of the fast transference to industry and the sudden increase of energy resource demanded for its economic growth, the environmental disruption and the lack of resources has became a big problem in China lately. Generally China has many rivers, which have a large basin scale, so compared with other counties, the resources by volume of river water can be considered to be rich. However, considering the relationship of the population and water resources, and the economic activity and water resources, the distribution is rather unbalanced. These severe natural conditions make it hard to solve water pollution. In this thesis, to outline the condition of the river system basin pollution, we focus on seven large river systems (the Yangtze River, the Yellow River, the Songhuajiang River, the Huaihe River, the Haihe River, the Liaohe River, and the Pearl River) and three lakes (Taihu, Dianchi and Chaohu) as representations, comparing them with China's water quality standard and summarizing the conditions of the pollution. Generally, a tendency for improvements has became visible by political offorts of the State Environmental Protection Administration and the regulation built up to polluting companies, but basically it has attached the importance to the main stream of the river, so the pollutions tributary has not been prevented that much. In addition, there are many paper mills and plating factories on coast, and their waste water is causing the pollution to worsen.
